5 Ways to Prepare Your Home for the Holidays

The holiday season is officially upon us, and it’s time to prepare your home for the holidays. Here at Tuf Flooring LLC in Boise, ID, it’s our favorite time of the year! We can already hear Santa’s sleigh bells faintly jingling. Have you started to prepare your home for guests, hanging the wreaths, and trimming the tree? If not, we’re here to help. Get inspired to deck the halls with our five easy tips on how to prepare your home for the holidays. Even Clark Griswold will approve!

Trim the Tree

Nothing says the holidays are here like trimming the Christmas tree! Many families love visiting the local Christmas tree farm after Thanksgiving to select a fresh tree together. Once you get the tree home, be sure to re-cut the trunk and fill the stand with a gallon of water. A fresh tree needs to be standing in two to three inches of water consistently. Prefer faux trees? We love the realistic branching of Balsam Hill trees! If a faux tree isn’t in your budget, a few new round red ornaments or a new spool of ribbon can go a long way when it comes to freshening up your holiday decor.

It’s the Little Things

The holiday season is about slowing down to appreciate the details. Fill your clear glass vases or bowls with ornaments and beads. Place cinnamon and fresh fir scented candles around your home for the scent of Christmas. Creatively display your holiday cards on your mantle or around the doorway. Taking time to execute the small touches are what make it a holiday to remember.

Freshen Up for Guests

When the holidays are here, guests draw near. Prepare for unexpected guests by keeping cheese, crackers, mixed nuts, and apple cider on hand so that you can pull together a snack display in no time. Place some fresh white towels in the guest bathroom and be sure guest bed linens are clean. By taking a few steps to be prepared, you’ll be able to welcome unexpected guests with a smile!

Plan Ahead

Enjoying a stress-free holiday is all about planning. Check out this holiday checklist for organization inspiration! The holiday season can feel busy and overwhelming, so you should try to tackle one or two tasks a day while making it as fun as possible. Cleaning the house and wrapping gifts shouldn’t have to feel like a chore!
